Themes control how a Shopify store looks. Anything that changes how it behaves, tiered or bundle discounts, custom shipping and payment rules, extra checkout fields, syncing with an ERP or warehouse, lives in apps, Checkout UI extensions and Shopify Functions. Shopify has moved checkout customization away from checkout.liquid and Shopify Scripts onto these, so stores that relied on the old approach need their logic rebuilt.

Do we need Shopify Plus for checkout customization?
For most checkout UI extensions, yes, they are a Plus feature on the information, shipping and payment steps. Shopify Functions for discounts and some thank-you and order status page extensions are available on other plans. We'll check what your plan allows before scoping.
Our store still uses Shopify Scripts. What do we need to do?
Shopify is replacing Scripts with Functions, so each script needs to be rebuilt. We audit what every script does, rebuild the logic as Functions, and test both side by side before switching over.
Private app, custom app or public app, which do we need?
A custom app installed on one store covers most needs. A public app only makes sense if you plan to install it on many stores or sell it on the App Store, which brings Shopify's review process and extra requirements.
Can you connect Shopify to our ERP, warehouse or CRM?
Yes. Order, inventory and customer syncing is one of the most common reasons to build a custom app, and we build it with retries and logging so a failed sync is noticed rather than lost.
